Singer Cesária Évora has cancelled the European tour that was scheduled to begin later this month in France. The news was confirmed by the barefoot diva's manager, Djô da Silva, in an interview he gave to Cape Verdean National Radio this morning, June 10.

Djô da Silva explained that the reason for the cancellation of the tour has to do with Évora's health. The singer was recently hospitalized and, as a result, was forced to cancel a tour in Australia. "Recently, Cesária's doctor has found her to be very fatigued, and asked us to cancel the summer tour," said Djô da Silva, who nevertheless reassured listeners that nothing serious was wrong, and that Évora must simply rest over the course of the next three months.

Cesária Évora's manager also explained that the concert halls in France, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Romania, Greece, Italy and Spain where the singer was scheduled to perform have all been informed of the cancellation.
