The Organization of Cape Verdean Women (OMCV) will assist people interested in financing their business projects in the municipality of Mosteiros (Fogo island) through small loans. OMCV president Idalina Freire will visit the island of Fogo today, May 30, to discuss the issue. Idalina Freire will be in Mosteiros to make contacts with people interested in financing their projects and initiatives in various different areas, namely in the fishing, carpentry, sales, agriculture, farming, and clothes-making for those who have already begun small businesses. In Mosteiros, some 100 people have already expressed interest in the program. According to the OMCVs São Filipe (Fogo) delegate, Maria António Garcia, adherence to micro-credit financing programs in São Filipe has been satisfactory, as have the reimbursements of the loans - some 90% of the loans are normally paid back within the period stipulated in the initial contracts. |
