The Portuguese Development Support Institute (known by the acronym IPAD) will assist in the restructuring and modernization of Cape Verdean news agency Inforpress, contributing a total of 90,000 euros. A protocol was signed Friday in Praia by Portuguese Ambassador Graça Guimarães and Inforpress Administrative Council president José Augusto Sanches. The project for the remodeling of Inforpress has a 120,000-euro budget, according to the agency, and encompasses the acquisition of servers and the respective backup software, computers and other materials. Part of these investments are contemplated in the Annual Cooperation Plan between Portugal and Cape Verde for the current year. Last August, José Manuel Barroso, the administrative council president of Portuguese news agency Lusa, signed a memorandum with José Augusto Sanches, according to which Lusa committed itself to supporting Inforpress in its technological modernization process and in the training of professionals. Inforpress is a corporation owned entirely by the State of Cape Verde. |
