Cape Verde’s ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Júlio Morais, affirmed in Beijing that Macau could serve as a reference for Cape Verde. The diplomat was speaking about the success of the “one country, two systems” and Macau self-administration policies. According to Macauhub, the diplomat expressed his belief that Macau and Cape Verde are similar because of their reduced territorial area and their lack of natural resources. “Macau’s development experience over the past decade could be a good example for Cape Verde,” affirmed Morais. The ambassador also said that the Cape Verdean people want to know more about China and that, in addition, Cape Verde is eager to show its culture to the Chinese people. In his opinion, Macau plays an important role as a platform for exchange between China and the world’s Portuguese-language countries, and cooperation between China and Africa’s Portuguese-speaking nations can serve as an example of south-south cooperation for the rest of the world. |
