Today and tomorrow, the island of São Vicente will play host to the 3rd Meeting of Ambassadors and Representatives of International Entities in Cape Verde. Among the main objectives of the event is to analyze how to increase the quality and quantity of partnerships involving Cape Verde. The official opening of the event will be presided over by Prime Minister José Maria Neves, while the meeting will be conducted by Minister of Foreign Affairs José Brito. During the meeting, Cape Verdean authorities intend to share information regarding the country’s current economic situation and the perspectives being placed upon it. “Sea Cluster,” “The National Identification and Civil Authentication System” and “Cape Verdean Foreign Policy” are among the other subjects to be discussed. According to José Brito, São Vicente was chosen for the event because of the role the island has played and could once again come to perform in Cape Verde, particularly in sectors related to the sea. Also to be present at the meeting are São Vicente mayor Isaura Gomes, Bank of Cape Verde governor Carlos Burgo, Minister of Infrastructures and Transportation Manuel Inocêncio Sousa, the director of the Department of Planning, Sandro Brito, and the director of the Department of Foreign Policy, José Luís Rocha. United Nations resident coordinator Petra Lantz is also slated to speak. |
