A Cape Verdean delegation is in Brazil to get to know the best practices of the South American country’s judicial structure. The delegation includes Minister of Justice Marisa Morais, Supreme Court of Justice chief justice Arlindo Medina and Cape Verdean ambassador to Brazil Daniel Pereira.

During the visit, which will run until June 10, the Cape Verdean delegation will meet with representatives of Brazil’s National Justice Council., the Federal Supreme Court, the High Court of Justice, the High Military Court, the High Electoral Court and the Ministry of Justice.

“The representatives will get to know the best practices of the Brazilian judiciary system and the programs developed by the National Justice Council, such as the Starting Over Program, which is aimed at re-socializing inmates, and the Brazilian justice system’s computerization projects,” according to the National Justice Council.

The delegation’s visit is the fruit of a cooperation protocol signed in April of this year. On the occasion, the Brazilian council donated 40 computers to the Cape Verdean justice system, and the two countries agreed to exchange experiences regarding Brazil’s House of Justice and Citizenship and Cape Verde’s House of Law.

The Cape Verdean delegation will be welcomed by National Justice Council president Cezar Peluso. “The Council intends to strengthen relations with the international community and take the best practices adopted by the Brazilian judiciary system to other countries,” concludes the National Justice Council press release.
