| The world will stop on September 15 in order to see the harsh reality about climate changes worldwide, in the form of a multimedia lecture. The initiative comes from the Climate Reality Project, a non-governmental organization founded by former United States vice-president Al Gore, and will be broadcast live at 24 spots around the globe, with a stop in Cape Verde. California-based Cape Verdean band Mendes Brothers was invited to participate in one of the debate sessions in New York.
“With the approval of former US vice-president Al Gore, we have been invited to take part in a panel made up of eleven specialists in climatology and influential figures such as Stuart R. Gaffin and Drew Shindell. The panel will be presented by journalist Sarah Back House and broadcast live at UStream.com,” said Ramiro Mendes, who added that the Mendes Brothers, who play the role of United Nations ambassadors, intend to surprise those present with performances of some of the songs from their repertoire. Al Gore’s multimedia lecture may be followed from Cape Verde as well at the National Auditorium, beginning at 7:00 pm Thursday, September 15. The worldwide event begins in Mexico City and will continue westward around the globe. The 24 hours of the demonstration of the current climactic reality provides a complete vision on the climate crisis in real time, sharing the unique perspectives of countries from Tonga, in the Pacific Ocean, to Cape Verde, from Mexico to Alaska and from Jakarta to London. |
