Between November 16 and 23, a workshop will be held in the city of Mindelo (São Vicente island) organized by the Association of Small Developing Island States (AOSIS) with the support of the UN Development Program. The workshops objective is to prepare Cape Verde for international negotiations in the areas of trade and the environment. Some 100 experts from 43 AOSIS member countries and various international organizations are expected to participate in the workshop. The Cape Verdean delegation, the most numerous, is made up of diplomats and professionals from other government sectors.
Cape Verdes Minister of Foreign Affairs, Victor Borges, will likely give the opening speech at the workshop, which will help prepare attendees for participation in the international United Nations conference on small island states, to take place in Mauritius in January next year. |
