| US offers patrol ship to Cape Verde | ||||

Before the end of August, the United States Embassy in Praia will formally donate a high-speed patrol vessel, which is already docked at São Vicente port, to Cape Verde. The 11-meter vessel will operate with a three-person crew. The Cape Verdean Coast Guard's operational capacity will be reinforced with the high-speed boat being donated by the US government. According to a source connected to the Armed Forces, the vessel will be used to patrol port areas and shorelines, but will not be able to travel between islands. As a result, the island on which the vessel will be based "is being pondered by military personnel." |
