Portugals Agency for Foreign Investment and Trade will promote an event today, June 2, entitled "ABC Mercado Cabo Verde" in its auditorium in Portuguese capital Lisbon. The event is aimed at providing information and knowledge to companies planning to begin or that have recently begun international operations in Cape Verde.

The Agency for Foreign Investment and Trade intends to help the Portuguese obtain more in-depth knowledge about the Cape Verdean market. The Agency is stressing Cape Verdes political and social stability, which translates into a positive business environment. "In the past five years, with an annual growth rate of between 6% and 9%, Cape Verde has come to join the group of Middle Income Countries, according to the World Bank," say the events organizers.

Also emphasized is the countrys annual GDP of more than € 2,500 per inhabitant, more than double the average of Africa as a whole. Cape Verde also has the highest per-capita GDP of Africas Portuguese-language countries, among which only Angola approaches Cape Verdes levels. "Despite the absence of relevant natural resources, these data attest to the success of the decisions made by the countrys authorities, applied according to internationally-recognized criteria of good governance."
