| Prime Minister visits US with higher learning on the table | ||||

Prime Minister José Maria Neves begins a four-day visit to the United States on Friday, May 15. On his first day in the country, Neves will participate in the graduation ceremony of Cape Verdean students attending Bridgewater State College, the president of which is Cape Verdean-American Dana Mohler-Faria. On Monday, May 18, the prime minister will give a lecture entitled "Cape Verde: Opportunities for Development" at the same colleges Moatley Auditorium. On Sunday, Neves will be given a Doctor Honoris Causa degree by tje University of Rhode Island in recognition of his efforts "in favor of the development and implementation of higher learning in Cape Verde." Prior to this, on Saturday morning, the prime minister is scheduled to meet with Massachusetts governor Deval Patrick. In the afternoon, he will meet with congressman Barney Frank. José Maria Neves will also attend a dinner with Cape Verdean immigrants at the Veterans Memorial Building on West Elm Street in Brockton, Massachusetts. On Sunday, following the Doctor Honoris Causa ceremony, the prime minister will meet with the local Cape Verdean community at Rosinha Restaurant in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The prime minister and his delegation return to Cape Verde on Tuesday, May 19. |
