Public employment and the priorities of the 2010 State Budget are among the issues to be at the center of debate in a meeting of the general council of the National Association of Cape Verdean Municipalities (ANMCV) on June 15 and 16.

The meeting comes following the recent ANMCV Forum on Local Governance and Territorial Development, held on May 14 and 15, in which the need for coordination between local and central governments to prepare the State Budget was reaffirmed by participants.

Adopting pluri-annual contracts for the financing of local development founded on priorities to be established jointly by the central government and each individual municipality is expected to be one of the methods discussed in this meeting.

In a communiqué, the ANMCV says that "it is the obligation of public authorities to seek dialogue, coordination and above all responses to the populations immediate needs in times of crisis, as well as to complement and focalize public interventions to find the way out of the crisis."
