The Cape Verdeans in Beijing

Many Cape Verdeans have been following the main competitions at the Beijing Olympics on television, and are anxious to see how Cape Verde fares in the 2008 games. 200-meter sprint runner Lenira Santos will be the first to compete, on August 19, at the National Stadium. Gymnast Wânia Monteiro, who celebrated her 22nd birthday on Saturday, will be at the Technology Gymnasium beginning on the 21st. On the last day of the games, the 24th, runners will go into action, including Nelson Cruz.

Lenira Santos
